Brazilian set to follow Navas to Manchester
By Aaron Leggott
It seems that Manchester City have learnt their lessons from last year as they look to seal their deals as soon as possible this summer. With Navas all but a City player, it looks like Fernandinho will also be wearing Sky Blue next season, pending a medical.
Sky Sources have quoted a fee of £34 million has been agreed between City and Fernandinho's current club Shakhtar Donetsk, but figures are believed to be nearer the £25 million mark.

Name: Fernando Luiz Rosa (Fernandinho)
Age: 28
Position: Defensive midfielder
Club Appearances: 256
Club goals: 45
After making 72 appearances at his first professional club, Atlético Paranaense, Fernandinho decided that it was time for a new challenge and moved to Donetsk to play for Shakhtar in 2006. Since his move to Ukraine, he has played a pivotal role in helping Shakhtar become one of Ukraine's successful teams with a range of league titles and cup victories.
He was really starting to be noticed on European's biggest stage in the Champions League last season, after his dominating performances in the middle of the park against reigning champions Chelsea, as well as potential finalists Dortmund in the last 16.
So, what will he bring to City? His key strengths are his ability to contribute in both defence and attack - making him one of the deadliest box to box midfielders in Europe. He has pace in abundance and his purchase indicates that the Blues are looking to create a team capable dealing with the pace of the Champions League.
We will keep you updated on the transfer via the site and on our Twitter page. There is a great atmosphere surrounding the ambition of the club this summer and the excitement is certainly starting to build ahead of the new campaign!
