The evening of Tuesday 17th saw Manchester City’s academy squad progress into the 5th round of the FA Youth Cup. The winners of this tie were decided early on as Manchester City saw off any competition and took a convincing 3-0 lead within the first half. A 40 yard screamer marked a glimmer of hope for Swindon Town as they pulled one goal back before the break, but this was undone with a 4th from the young Blues.
Not only is tonight special for the Academy setup, but also for us at The Sky Blue View. Courtney Meppen Walter has kindly agreed to do a short interview with us about the game. Courtney is a very talented youngster and I thoroughly expect him to break into the first team setup within a few years, he shows a lot of promise and shows similarities with explosive right back Micah Richards. Here is our first ever exclusive interview at The Sky Blue View.
TSBV: Hi Courtney, first of all congratulations on the win, what were your thoughts on the game?
Courtney: Hello, yeah well I think all the lads played extremely well tonight. The performance as a team was top class and we all can't wait for the next round.
TSBV: Of course, as you will know you have drawn Fulham in the next round of the FA Youth Cup, what are your thoughts on this tie? Is it one you will look forward to?
Courtney: All the lads look forward to every game we play but for now we will concentrate on the games coming up and as the tie gets closer we will make Fulham our priority.
TSBV: The win tonight was very convincing, what do you think are the strengths of this MCFC youth team?
Courtney: Yeah the win tonight was great; all the lads know what they have got to do to contribute to the team that's why we play so well together as a team.
TSBV: I guess morale in the camp will be high, do you feel that the team is capable to go on and win this prestigious trophy?
Courtney: Yes we are very capable of winning this competition and I have the belief that we will go very far. If we get to the final it will be a great achievement.
That concludes our first ever exclusive interview, come back tomorrow to read about our interview with MCFC legend Mike Summerbee
